Once again, Malakoff and Eustace volleyball players will be teaming up to “Dig Pink.

Dig Pink is a national effort to “further breast cancer awareness, education and patient services.”

“We are once again teaming up with Eustace ISD to raise money and awareness for for the fight against cancer,” said Malakoff girls athletics coordinator Emily Martinez.

The two schools have been joining forces for the effort for the past three years.

Malakoff will be hosting a “Pink Out” at its next two home volleyball games, which are Friday, Oct. 12, and Tuesday, Oct. 16.

T-shirts are on sale for $12. There are two different designs available, one in pink and one in grey.

It is homecoming day in Malakoff. Here’s the schedule for tonight’s events.

  • 4:30 p.m.: Volleyball. The Lady Tigers will be playing host to Faith Family and will also be celebrating Senior Night and Dig Pink.
  • 5 p.m.: The Malakoff Education Foundation will hold its tailgate kickoff.
  • 5:30 p.m.: The Homecoming Parade will go from in front of the Rock Building to the football field.
  • 6:50 p.m.: Homecoming Court will line up and be announced at the football field.
  • 7:15 p.m.: Crowning of the homecoming king and queen. (time is an estimate)
  • 7:30 p.m.: Football. The Tigers play host to Lone Oak.

The Malakoff Lady Tigers have jumped out to a quick start this basketball season, rolling to a 4-1 record.

The Malakoff Lady Tigers opened up the basketball season with a home win over Rice Tuesday night, 47-26.

The Lady Tigers jumped out on top early, outscoring Rice 17-7 in the first quarter, and never looked back.
