Like always, Santa will take time away from his busy schedule to be in the Christmas parade in Malakoff Saturday.

When parade floats hit the streets of Malakoff this weekend, things are going to be different.

The Malakoff Chamber of Commerce, area businesses, the Historical Society, residents – well, just a big group of people – have been working to make sure this Saturday, Dec. 10, is a day to remember.

Things will kick off with the annual Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade at 10 a.m.

The parade will feature a new route this year. Floats will line up on the First Baptist Church parking lot by 9:30 a.m. The parade will go down Melton to State Highway 31, turn north on State Highway 198 (Terry St.), turn right on Jackson Street, turn right on College Street, cross over State

ATHENS – The Freedom From Religion Foundation, based in Wisconsin, sent a letter dated Dec. 1 to Henderson County commissioners saying the nativity scene located on the courthouse lawn is illegal.

It looks like Malakoff will be the place for some Christmas cheer Saturday, Dec. 10. The day will feature a parade, a celebration downtown with raffles and giveaways, and special displays at the Malakoff Historical Society & Museum.
