Students from Malakoff Elementary School made Valentine’s Day cards as part of the Valentines for Veterans program, which delivers the cards to “ hospitalized veterans at the Dallas Veterans Administration Medical Center, local VFW and American Legion posts, and active duty military service members visiting the USO Center at DFW International Airport.” Above, fifth-graders deliver their cards to Amy Gould of Congressman Jeb Hensarling’s Athens office. Pictured are, front row from left, Cully McCoy, Brykell Killingsworth, Madelynn Dunklin, Everado Garcia, Dania Garcia, Keishan Walker; back row from left, Amy Gould, Mitchel Wisdom, Kinsey Leis, Kyler Anding, Fantasia Bryant, and MES Principal Ronny Snow. “These valentines are a great way to say thank you to the brave men and women who have made—and are still making—tremendous sacrifices to protect our freedom,” said Hensarling. “We need to let them know that we appreciate all that they have done for our country. I know each veteran who receives one of these cards will be happy to see how much our students care about them and care about America.”
