Planning for last Saturday’s Malakoff Tiger Invitational powerlifting meet began immediately after Thanksgiving. Still, Head Coach Scott Lane never expected to be cooking Friday night.
But when the caterer dropped out unexpectedly on Thursday, meet organizers had to figure out how to feed an expected 75 to 85 powerlifting coaches and officials.
“That was a major curve ball,” Lane said. “Those are big eaters.”
So he and Athletic Director Jamie Driskell bought briskets, sausage and beans and started cooking.
