The auditor has once again given Malakoff ISD a clean review.
Monday night, auditor J.W. Lambright gave his annual address to the MISD schoolboard and had high praise for the district.
“The financial position of the district at the end of the year is very strong,” he said.
Lambright also singled out Business Manager Mary Ferguson and the business office for keeping all the district’s books in order.
“I assure you, it isn’t like that at every school district,” he said.
The district’s fund balance at the end of the year was $4.7 million.
While the auditor praised the district for how it spent – and tracked – its money, the battle over how much money is available to spend continues. The district is taking part in a lawsuit challenging the constitutionally of the Texas school finance system.
Board members also discussed possible early retirement incentives for teachers Monday night.
