Letters: We need a price check

Posted by : Staff Reports | On : November 4, 2011

Dear Editor,

Many brave young men and women have made the ultimate sacrifice of their limbs or their lives to try to secure democracy for citizens of countries in the Middle East. Now, we all agree that the world is a better place without the likes of Saddam Hussein, Muammar Quaddafi, and Osama bin Laden. Unfortunately, Libya, Pakistan, Egypt, and Afghanistan are still self-avowed autocracies with repressive governments that treat women and most citizens with disdain. They still detest Americans and wish to kill us and our way of life.

I say it’s time for a price check. The many lives and the billions of dollars seem too costly for the result.
