Rotary Club meetings

The Rotary Club of Malakoff, chartered March 29, 1939 meets noon each Tuesday at the Flagg House, located at 207 E. Main Street. The group serves the people of the Malakoff area, students and faculty at Malakoff ISD, and the students at Cross Roads High School. “A small but powerful group of motivated people in service to their communities.” For information, contact Jeanie Seely at 903-489-2266.

Special Olympics Chili Supper

The Malakoff Special Olympics Chili Supper and Fall Festival will be from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Malakoff Community Center. There will be chili, nachos, hotdogs, a cake walk, pony rides, bounce house, face painting and more. Trinidad UMC Bazaar

Trinidad United Meth-odist Women are having having their Autumn Rummage Sale and Crafts Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 5. Along with the handmade items, there will be a silent auction and gently used items for sale. The hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. In connection with the bazaar, the Methodist Men will be serving grilled hamburger plates between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and the Methodist Women will have homemade baked goods. Trinidad UMC is located on the corner of McEntire and Scruggs Streets.

Pet Christmas photo

Have your pet’s photo taken with Santa on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 10 a.m. to noon at Jamye Perelli Photography Studio in Gun Barrel City. Cost is $10. All proceeds benefit Friends of the Animals Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic, a non-profit charitable organization.

Church brings former NFL player

Former NFL player Willie Franklin (Baltimore Colts) will deliver a message of action and purity for young people Sunday, Nov. 6, at The Church of Christ in Malakoff, 214 N. Martin, behind Berry Lumber. Franklin, a motivational speaker, minister and father of four will speak at 10:30 a.m. and at an evening youth service at 5:30 p.m. For more information, call 903-489-1718.

FBC Tour of Christmas Tables

First Baptist Church of Malakoff will host the Annual Tour of Christmas Tables and Ladies Banquet on Monday, Nov. 7, at 5:30 p.m., with guest speaker Thelma Wells.

For the past 30 years, Wells has been dedicated to inspiring women to Bee Their Best. first in the corporate arena and later through her own ministry called A Woman of God Ministries. As a speaker she has encourage thousands of women across the nation at conferences hosted by organizations like Women of Faith, Extraordinary Women, Women in Christian Media, and countless other women’s groups, workshops and conferences.

Literary Club meeting

The Literary Club of Cedar Creek Lake will meet Tuesday, Nov. 8, at the Library at Cedar Creek Lake in Seven Points.
Refreshments will be served at 9:30 a.m., followed by a short business meeting and program. The program will be given by the musical group Ye Merry Ole Players presenting Meet Me in Dallas. The devotional will be given by Rita Mills. Hostesses will be chairperson Lorelei Bailey, Jean Wright, Adelaide Bennett, Rita Mills and Deanna Drab.

Star Harbor Turkey Shoot golf tournament

Saturday, Nov. 12, is the date of the annual Turkey Shoot Golf Tournament at the Star Harbor Golf Course. Sign up sheet will be at City Hall by the 1st of November so sign up soon. You have until 10 a.m. the day of the tournament, Nov. 12 to get in on the fun, but get your name on the list early. Shotgun start 1 p.m. Cost is $28 which includes two mulligans and a barbecue dinner catered by Danny’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Q. Non players are invited to come to the dinner which will be served at 5 p.m. Cost of meal for non-golfers will be $8 for adults and $4 for children under 10. Festival of Trees

Trees decorated by Non-Profit Agencies in Henderson County will be displayed in the Foyer of the Cain Center from Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, through Friday, Dec. 2. Churches, school booster clubs, and scout troops are all invited to participate.

The public will be invited to view the trees and will have an opportunity to vote for their favorites. Each tree will be available for silent auction bidding. The proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the agency that decorated the tree.

A reception for the agencies and successful bidders will be held on Friday, December 2nd at 5:30 p.m. in Room B of the Cain Center.
