Letters: Malakoff Exes host successful reunion

Posted by : Staff Reports | On : October 18, 2011

Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Malakoff Ex-Students and Alumni Association, I’d like to thank all of those individuals and businesses that made our 2011 Homecoming and Reunion weekend a huge success. The turnout was amazing with over 200 exes and guests in attendance for the game, banquet and picnic. Without the countless hours, hard work and dedication of our volunteers, board, and many others in the county, this would not have been possible. Thank you all!

With the generous sponsorships and donations we received this year, we’ll be able to continue our current scholarship commitment to MHS.

The association awarded the first MESAA Distinguished Alumnus of The Year Award to Ken Andrews. In Ken’s name, the association will be donating $1,000 to the, soon to be formed, MISD Education Foundation.

A very special thank you to our many sponsors and donors, including, Randy’s Exxon, Oopsie Daisies Florist & Gift Boutique, Malakoff Garden Club, East Texas Screen Printing, Citizens National Bank – Malakoff, First State Bank – Athens, Malakoff Garden & Nursery Center, Cedar Lake Nursing Services, Cedar Lake Nursing Home, My Favorite Things Coffee & Gift Shop, Country Oaks Golf Course, Miss Lillie’s Bed and Breakfast, Booger Hill Mercantile, Malakoff Insurance Agency, From the Heart Flowers, Berry Hardware & Lumber, Malakoff Historical Society, Mike Bailey Insurance, Brookshires, Bacon Auto Ranch, Elder Chrysler-Dodge, Teena Dillard, Julie Royall Armstrong, LaDona Rogers Davis, Janice Jackson Cason, and all the antique shops that participated in the scavenger hunt.

Thanks go to Pat Isaacson for hosting the picnic and reunion planning meetings at the Flagg House. Also, thanks to the golfers for making the 2nd Annual Exes Golf Tournament a success.

Finally, I’d like to thank the MHS National Honor Society volunteers that assisted with the banquet and picnic.
Once again, I’d like to thank the community for your support, generosity and willingness to help the Tiger Exes Pride!
Get ready for Exes Reunion 2012!

Have a glorious day.
